York, PA – White Rose Credit Union continued its strong commitment to financial literacy and community outreach throughout the spring, partnering with local schools and organizations to provide meaningful educational opportunities and hands-on learning experiences across York County.
As part of our spring outreach efforts, WRCU collaborated with the Central York School District during its “Voice and Choice” day, where administrators and staff participated in interactive sessions led by our team focused on budgeting basics. These sessions provided practical tools and real-world guidance to help participants strengthen their understanding of money management and support financial conversations with students.
In addition, WRCU team members participated in Central York High School’s Mock Interview program, where local professionals volunteer their time to help students build real-world interviewing and career readiness skills. Through this initiative, our team conducted mock interviews, provided constructive feedback, and shared professional insights to help prepare students for success beyond graduation while reinforcing our commitment to developing York County’s future workforce.
WRCU also partnered with Strive Initiatives, a York-based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities and other barriers to independence through life skills development, employment training, and community integration. During our Life Skills Workshop, WRCU team members led a session focused on budgeting and financial management, equipping participants with foundational knowledge and confidence to manage day-to-day finances and plan for long-term stability.
Further expanding its outreach, WRCU delivered a budgeting basics session at Tec Centro York, a community-focused organization that provides adult education, workforce development, and career training programs to individuals seeking to build skills and create new opportunities. This session focused on accessible, real-world budgeting strategies designed to meet participants at various stages of their financial journey.
Continuing its engagement with local students, WRCU participated in the Dallastown Area School District Junior Career Symposium, where team members connected with students to discuss career pathways, the importance of financial literacy, and the role credit unions play in supporting their communities.
WRCU also participated in the Junior Achievement REAL-Life event, helping local students build confidence and develop real-world financial skills through interactive, hands-on experiences that simulate adult budgeting and financial decision-making.
In addition to these educational initiatives, WRCU hosted its annual community Shred Event, providing a secure and convenient way for community members to safely dispose of sensitive documents while raising awareness around identity protection and fraud prevention.
