White Rose Credit Union Brings Financial Literacy to Life with Mad City Money Simulations

White Rose Credit Union recently brought financial education to life for students in York County through a series of immersive Mad City Money budget simulations. These interactive events gave students a hands-on opportunity to explore real-world financial decision-making in a fun and engaging way, reinforcing the credit union’s commitment to empowering the next generation.

At Dallastown Intermediate School, the credit union partnered with Mrs. Tomeka Clark and the Pathways Exploration Program to deliver the second part of the Mad City Money experience. Students stepped into adult roles, navigating monthly budgets, making choices about housing, transportation, and childcare, and learning to balance wants versus needs. The simulation sparked curiosity and conversation, helping students build confidence in their financial skills.

Meanwhile, at Central York High School, students in Mr. Stormes’ personal finance class took part in their own Mad City Money adventure. The classroom transformed into a bustling financial landscape where students tackled budgeting challenges and gained a deeper understanding of money management through role-play and scenario-based learning.

These events are just one part of White Rose Credit Union’s broader commitment to financial education. Through its Financial Literacy & Education Program, the credit union offers no-cost educational resources to schools, businesses, and community organizations. From customizable presentations and classroom simulations to internships, job shadowing, and even credit union tours, the program is designed to meet learners where they are—whether in the classroom or the community.

And for those who want to keep learning on the go, White Rose Credit Union has partnered with Zogo, a free financial literacy app that rewards users for learning about personal finance.

“Mad City Money is one of our favorite ways to connect with students, said White Rose Credit Unions, Human Resources Vice President Tamika Baker. “It’s interactive, impactful, and a whole lot of fun. But it’s just the beginning. We’re here to support financial literacy at every stage of life.”

White Rose Credit Union’s financial literacy initiatives continue to highlight its dedication to community engagement and youth empowerment. With each simulation, the credit union reinforces its mission: It’s Your Life. We Care.
