Got Questions? We Have the Answers
What is a Save to Win account?

Save to Win makes saving more engaging by combining a savings account with chances to win cash prizes. Eligible members can earn entries based on qualifying increases in their month-end balance. Members keep the money they deposit, may earn applicable interest or dividends, and can enjoy the excitement of prize opportunities while building savings toward the goals that matter to them.

What is a Qualifying Save to Win Account?

A Qualifying Save to Win Account is the account that allows an eligible member to build savings and earn entries into applicable prize drawings. It may be a share savings account, share certificate, or certificate of deposit, depending on the credit union’s program structure. Rates, fees, terms, withdrawal limitations, and minimum balance requirements may vary.

Why should I open a Save to Win account?

Save to Win gives members an extra reason to build their savings. Members keep the money they save, may earn applicable interest or dividends, and can earn chances to win cash prizes along the way. Prize winnings can provide an extra boost that may help members reach their goals faster, while regular deposits help build stronger savings habits and greater financial security. Whether saving for an emergency fund, a vacation, a major purchase, or more peace of mind, Save to Win makes the journey more fun, engaging, and rewarding.

What prizes are available?

The biggest benefit is watching savings grow, but eligible members can also enjoy chances to win cash prizes along the way. Monthly and quarterly prizes and, where applicable, state, and/or credit union-sponsored prizes can provide an exciting extra boost toward a financial goal. Prize amounts and drawing structures may vary by credit union, state, and program year.

How do I earn Save to Win entries?

Every qualifying increase in savings can create more opportunities to win. One entry is earned for every $25 increase in the reported month-end balance compared with the prior month. The more a member saves, the more entries they may earn, up to a maximum of 100 entries per month for applicable monthly drawings, 300 entries per quarter for applicable quarterly drawings, and 1,200 entries per year for applicable annual drawings. Eligibility requirements, entry limits, and Official Rules apply.

Can you give an example of how entries are calculated?

Yes. An account holder earns one entry for every $25 increase in the monthly balance of the Qualifying Save to Win Account at month-end, based on a month-over-month balance increase. For example, if the reported ending balance increases by $100 compared to the prior month’s reported ending balance, the account holder would earn 4 entries for that monthly Drawing Period. Maximum entries may apply: 100 entries per month, 300 entries per quarter, and 1,200 entries per year, where applicable.

If I withdraw money, will I lose entries?

Members can access funds according to the account terms, but a withdrawal may reduce or eliminate the month-over-month balance increase used to calculate entries. If the month-end balance does not increase by at least $25, the member generally will not earn an entry for that monthly Drawing Period. Continuing to build the balance can create new opportunities in a future period.

When are the drawings held?

Monthly drawings are generally conducted around the 14th of the month following the applicable monthly Drawing Period, giving eligible members regular opportunities to win. Quarterly drawings, where applicable, are held after the applicable calendar quarter has ended. The current Official Rules control the actual drawing schedule.

How will winners be notified?

Winners will be notified by the participating credit union via telephone, email, or U.S. mail. Winners do not need to be present at the drawing to win, so members should keep their contact information current to ensure they can be reached if selected for a prize.

How long must the account remain open?

To remain eligible for the applicable Drawings, the account must remain open through the end of that Drawing Period. For monthly drawings, the Drawing Period ends on the last day of the month. For applicable quarterly drawings, the Drawing Period ends on the last day of the calendar quarter. For applicable annual drawings, the Drawing Period ends on the last day of the calendar year. Closing the account before the applicable Drawing Period ends may result in loss of eligibility for that drawing. Refer to your credit union’s Official Rules and account disclosures for additional details.
