Every classroom has the potential to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Often, all it takes is the right resource, tool, or opportunity to help bring a teacher’s vision to life. That’s why White Rose Credit Union is proud to bring back its Teacher Grant Program, awarding two $500 grants to educators who are making a difference in the lives of students throughout York and Adams Counties.
Supporting Learning Beyond the Basics
Teachers consistently go above and beyond to create meaningful learning experiences, often stretching limited budgets to provide additional materials, technology, and enrichment opportunities. Through the Teacher Grant Program, White Rose Credit Union helps bridge that gap by providing funding for projects that positively impact student learning.
Grant funds can be used in a variety of ways, including classroom resources, educational projects, learning space enhancements, student engagement initiatives, and other creative ideas designed to improve the educational experience.
Making a Difference in Local Classrooms
One of the most rewarding aspects of the program is seeing how educators transform grant funding into opportunities that leave a lasting impact on students.
Last year, Paul Thom, Graphic Design Teacher at Red Lion Area Senior High School, used grant funding to purchase a desktop printer for his graphic design and print program. The equipment gave students the opportunity to move beyond digital concepts and gain hands-on experience producing professional-quality printed work.
As Thom shared: “The desktop printer funded through your generous grant has quickly become one of the most impactful additions to our high school graphic design and print program. It has transformed the way our students approach their work by allowing them to move seamlessly from digital design to a professional-quality printed product.”
The printer enabled students to create custom notepads from start to finish, teaching them every stage of the design and production process. Perhaps most notably, students were entrusted with designing and printing the graduation programs for the Class of 2026. The project provided valuable real-world experience in project management, quality control, teamwork, and meeting deadlines while allowing students to contribute to an important milestone for their school community.
Reflecting on the long-term impact of the grant, Thom added: “This grant has provided more than just a piece of equipment. It has created meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students with the technical skills, confidence, and professional mindset they will carry into college, careers, and the creative industry for years to come.”
Stories like Paul’s demonstrate how a relatively small investment can create powerful educational opportunities and help students build skills that extend well beyond the classroom.
Open to Educators Across York and Adams Counties
Current teachers employed in schools located in York or Adams Counties are eligible to apply. Educators do not need to be members of White Rose Credit Union to participate. Applications are evaluated based on the proposed project’s goals, expected student impact, implementation plan, and overall educational value.
